2009 Beach Nourishment Project Summary

The Beach nourishment project from 1st -15th Street, and 40th -52nd Street was completed in the summer of 2009. Sea Isle received about 400,000 cubic yards of sand.  It was an operation that took place 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week since its start.

The project was contracted by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection and the contractor who performed the work was the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company.  The sand was conveyed via a pipeline, which extended from the dredge in Corson's Inlet to the area of the fill.  The project cost was about $3.5 million, with the State paying 75% and the City paying 25%.
